What makes AVID different?
AVID is different than other programs because of the focus. AVID focuses on all student acceptance to a 4-year university. The focus leads students to complete the quintessential requirements for acceptance into a 4-year college.
✤ Students are encouraged to enroll in honors and AP courses ✤Students are inspired to volunteer ✤Students are monitored for a-g requirements ✤Students are motivated to participate in school activities and clubs |
What is AVID?

The curriculum is based on writing and critical thinking, reading, inquiry, and collaborative learning strategies, and community service. The three main components are:

✤Tutorial support
✤College Readiness
✤Volunteer Work
AVID is offered in elementary and high school at Snowline School District.

Who is the AVID student?
AVID students are students in the middle capable of completing a college preparatory path with support. These students often do not realize their full academic potential. In the identification process, a number of criteria are considered, including:
✥ Assessment Scores (passing scores) ✥ Grades (passing) ✥ Citizenship ✥ Attendance ✥ Desire and Determination ✥ First in Family to Attend College ✥ Historically Underrepresented in 4-year colleges ✥ Economically Disadvantaged ✥ Other Special Circumstances |
While all of the criteria are considered for acceptance into AVID, no single criteria will necessarily eliminate a student from consideration. The AVID College Readiness System should reflect the demographics of the school it is serving.
